material things aren’t something God uses to effect people July 24, 2006

material things aren’t something God uses to effect people- well in some ways they do, but my material trinkets that i have dont help others towards Jesus, theyre more of a distraction. Words on the other hand do have power and influence, paul said ” I’d rather have 5 intelligent words to speak, than other words that dont do anything for the hearer”(or in my case material things that don’t do anything for the hearer ).

I think my material things need to get saved, and begin to do the work of an  evangelist, not proclaiming their own self importance but proclaiming Jesus as WAY more important. cya

You reckon?

Then why are most of the blessings in Deut 28 material things? This is a material world – that’s why. Your wife and children have material needs!

Proverbs 28:19 “He who cultivates his land will have plenty of bread”. Sounds pretty practical to me! 😀

ok, i think you need to check the context of the conclusion ‘I think my material things need to get saved, and begin to do the work of an evangelist’ also, ‘well in some ways they do, but’ ‘distraction'(being the primary word here)
Im focusing on an issue I’ve had, getting them in their propper place.
material things can be a stumbling block to others, and promoting/glorifying them isnt glorifying G.- eg a dazzling church building doesnt get people saved, the gospel does! but a building can be useful, so we might as well have one.
things werent helping the rich young man J spoke to- perhaps he had overdosed on Dt28, who LOVED them (-:
Perhaps the title should have revolved around the love of riches and also PRIDE of riches- wow look out for a FALL there!- ive had it a few times unfortunately! CYA
